Summary:End-to-end packet-pair probing has been used as one of the primary mechanisms to measure bottleneck capacity, cross-traffic intensity, and available bandwidth of end-to-end Internet paths. However, there has been lacking an understanding of what types of information about the path are sampled by packet-pairs and how they are encoded in the corresponding output dispersions. In this paper, we answer these questions by deriving the expression of individual output spacings (i.e., dispersions) in the context of multihop paths and general bursty cross-traffic arrivals. Based on these results, we examine stochastic properties of the sampled signals and derive the statistical mean of the output interpacket spacings as a recursive function of the input spacing. We show that the result is different from what has been obtained in prior work using fluid cross-traffic models and that this discrepancy has a significant adverse impact on the accuracy of packet-pair bandwidth

Summary:We review developments in transparent data embedding and watermarking for audio, image, and video. Data-embedding and watermarking algorithms embed text, binary streams, audio, image, or video in a host audio, image, or video signal. The embedded data are perceptually inaudible or invisible to maintain the quality of the source data. The embedded data can add features to the host multimedia signal, e.g., multilingual soundtracks in a movie, or provide copyright protection. We discuss the reliability of data-embedding procedures and their ability to deliver new services such as viewing a movie in a given rated version from a single multicast stream. We also discuss the issues and problems associated with copy and copyright protection and assess the viability of current watermarking algorithms as a means for protecting copyrighted data

Summary:This paper is concerned with the hardware realization of HAVC (hybrid automatic voltage control) system. Firstly, HAVC theory is introduced briefly. Then based on this, the hardware framework of HAVC is designed, which include command, communication, execution and monitor four layers. And by using the hybrid control law which is given in this paper, the HAVC equipment for power plant is developed. Summary:Based on hybrid control theory, this paper introduces an integrated control strategy of voltage and reactive power in substation. This strategy adopts the hierarchical balance optimization of reactive power and improves the traditional "nine-area diagram" control method. The new hybrid control strategy not only solves the oscillating problem caused by the change of transformer taps and shunt capacitors switching, but also responses the global optimal control command of reactive power in time. The simulations have proved the validity of the HAVC strategy.

Abstract
The emergence of power semiconductor devices such as insulated-gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs) or injection-enhanced gate transistors (IEGTs) and gate-commutated turn-off (GCT) thyristors or integrated gate-commutated thyristors (IGCTs) enables power conversion systems to expand into utility and industry applications. Much attention has been paid to power switching devices based on wide-bandgap semiconductors such as silicon carbide(SiC). These devices are expected to have the following advantages over silicon devices; low switching and conduction losses, especially in power conversion systems operating as high as, or exceeding 600 V. Abstract
This paper presents the mathematical model of multiphase induction machines in the synchronous reference frame by using generalized two axis real transformation, which simplifies the modeling and control of multiphase induction machines. A detailed implementation of an indirect type multiphase induction machine rotor flux field orientation control and unified PWM technique applied to the multiphase inverter are described. The control method is implemented on the floating-point DSP board TMS320C32 to verify the validity of the developed control strategy.
