Excellent, i've found that most of terms are very self-descriptive (because it was coined by the inventor). And if you look back, most of the translated words are Han-Viet:
lò vi ba = microwave
kính hiển vi = microscope
oscilloscope = dao động kế/nghiệm ...
Unfortunately, I guess our generation is not that good at Han-Viet ... so we should forget about translating terms into Vietnamese, agree?

This sentence is not acceptable if you are speaking w/ a foreigner. It's for Vietnamese only!
You should say: You have a sense of humor!

Oh no, that sentence is still correct in English. We can say:
You're really funny! = You're really humorous! (bạn thật vui tính đấy! = bạn rất hài hước đấy!)
These are the same.

I think ... "you're funny" is fine ... funny guy, funny dude, funny jokes.

One question for Jeff (because you're stay in Singapore):
Why Singaporean like to say "Many thanks!" than "thank you so much!/ thank you very much!" (rất cảm ơn)
Or they like to say "never mind!" than "don't mention it!/ don't worry" (đừng để tâm, không sao đâu! kệ nó đi mà! thôi bỏ qua đi!)

I'm not sure. Both are equivalent. One is less formal than the other and tends to be used in speaking.

Because English is nothing for technicians. We use English and other languages as a communication tool only. We use technical knowledge to earn our bread.

I have to say that today English is a means of acquiring new knowledge especially in Engineering. Somehow lots of academics have used English to publicize their work/textbook.
(I'm not sure facility is the right word, it sounds strange ).
This thread is reactivated recently, therefore it's still quiet.
Let's keep this thread as an informal chat until someday we have an interesting, more technical topic to discuss. Hehe.

we can found it on:

" communication facility"
Thus, these are the same:
English is the most optimal means of communication = English is the most optimal communication facility
